Second International Workshop on Applied Informatics for Economy, Society and Development (AIESD 2020)

The workshop on Applied Informatics for Economy, Society and Development organized by the SAEES Research Group of ABREC (Ecuador) seeks to promote discussion and dissemination of current economics research, systems for territorial intelligence, e-participation, e-democracy and territorial economic development; with special emphasis on social and environmental development. The objective of this second edition of AIESD 2020 is to discuss aspects related to computer science applied in society. The idea is to learn the different techniques and tools that are used to study social phenomena, economic growth, the interaction between economic analysis and decision-making. The workshop seeks to promote an atmosphere of dialogue among the community of professionals working on issues related to technology and its application in the economy as well as society.

Call for Papers

The workshop welcomes original submissions on the following topics:

  • Applied Informatics for Less-Developed Countries
  • e-Participation
  • e-Democracy
  • ICTs and Society
  • Information Society
  • Territorial Intelligence Systems
  • Data Analysis


We welcome the submission of original papers that have not been published anywhere else. Papers submitted to this workshop need to follow Springer's LNCS format (either LaTeX or Word). Authors shall refer to Springer's guidelines. Authors must submit an original full paper (10 to 15 pages) that has not previously been published. All papers have to be written in English. The inclusion of ORCID is highly encouraged for all authors.

All submitted papers are reviewed by at least 2 experts. This workshop undergoes a double-blind peer review process. The initial submission shall consist of a PDF file with all information identifying the authors removed, including any acknowledgment section. Submissions are handled through EasyChair with the URL

Authors of accepted papers need to provide all source files, i.e., either a .docx file for Word users or all LaTeX source files ( .tex , .bib ) as well as any assets (e.g., figures). At least one author of each accepted paper needs to register at the main ICAI conference (see below).

Proceedings will be submitted to for online publication. Authors of accepted papers have to sign the Author Agreement to Publish a Contribution as Open-Access on requires authors to physically sign with pencil on paper.

Presentation Guidelines

Accepted papers will be presented during the workshop. Authors are required to prepare a presentation of 15 minutes, followed by a Q & A of 5 minutes. In case authors want to present using their own device, they need to make sure to bring the necessary adaptors (HDMI or VGA). All presentations must be given in English.
